Celebrating Life! The day after vacation, I went to Columbus for a Celebration of Life.   This celebration was for someone I had only met once!   I met her at a funeral, she was the mother of a friend.  In that one meeting, we talked and laughed and I felt like we had known each other for a long time! This person, Vicky, was bigger than life!   She had suffered from cancer for a very short time and chose not to have treatment knowing that the results would not give her much more time…she wanted to live during her last days/weeks/months, not struggle with the side affects of the nasty treatments.  I'd like to think we could all make these end of life decisions. (saving that for another blog post!!) And so she did…she was put into Hospice care shortly after she was diagnosed.   People were in and out of her room to visit…family, friends, and even OSU football players.   She was a huge fan and they knew it!  ...

Girls trips Recently, there was an article on Facebook that said, “Science Says Girl Trips Are Good For Your Mental Health!”    I have the link to the article below.    Check it out when you have time! https://life.gomcgill.com/taking-trips-with-your-girl-gang-is-good-for-your-mental-health?fbclid=IwAR0w6ICea33Do-gYQi5kGgERAz0UYMwO0eSJiOFPYokS46d3t_vJCWv9Jxc In the past, my girls’ trips were nothing too fancy…maybe an overnight shopping trip to the Outlets or a trip to Brown County.    Katie & I took time to do Mother/Daughter getaways or staycations, but really, nothing major.    However, those getaways were always so much fun!    They provided a man-free environment where the conversations were as girl-oriented as they could be.     We sipped cocktails and had tasty meals. At some point, things changed!    One of my friends purchased a week rental in New Smyrna Beach during the live auct...

Vacation...when time flies! Does time go quicker when you are on vacation?   I am fairly certain you would say yes!  Not sure why it does, except that time does fly when you are having fun! So, I left home on Thursday, to meet up with friends for our Louisville departure to Panama City Beach.   It’s always fun to leave on vacation.   When you finally arrive, the fun gets started and by fun I mean cocktails, swimdresses, toes in the sand, blue umbrellas and some of the best people watching on the coast!  As of today, we have just two days left and I’m already getting the blues so I’m going to leave you for now!   It’s time to get my last two days of my “tan” on...wish you were here! More on Sunday!!! 😎 PS...I’m not so great at posting from my phone!  Forgive anything that doesn’t look or sound right!

At the Beach!!! Hi Friends!   It’s the end of the summer and I’m taking one final trip before returning to work! Sorry, but no time for a blog today!   Headed out for a day of sunshine with a fun group of girls!   Nothing better to say!   More to come!
Cry over spilled wine?    Yes, I did. Remember my blog on Sunday?    It was a lovely post about the most lovely weekend I had shared with friends!    A Grandma Shower!    Well, after I posted that lovely blog, there may have been an “incident!” Yes, there was a catastrophe and it wasn’t pretty.   I was trying to be productive…washing sheets and towels after hosting Katie & Anthony and their friends overnight, tidying up in general, getting all of the lovely gifts put away for future use, and beginning the staging for my end of summer break vacation that will begin on Thursday night! I had planned to pack up a large bottle of wine that my house guests had left for me…afterall, I wanted to share this oversized bottle with my girls.    As I moved the bottle, it was leaning on the seat of a chair, while I was getting the bag/tissue paper ready, and without any warning, the bottle rolled off the chair and exploded…and b...

Party for CeCe!! Yesterday, I was treated to a “Grandma Shower!”    It was a party to celebrate me, the grandma to be!    I can’t tell you how much fun it was and how I’m convinced this needs to happen for every one of my friends when they become grandmas. It started with a good friend telling me she would be happy to host a Cincinnati baby shower for Katie but she also said, “We can do a baby shower or we could have a grandma shower for you!”      Knowing how shy I am, and how I just hate to be the center of attention, it took me about three seconds to say, “YES! I’d love a Grandma Shower!!”    My sweet friend asked for my guest list and she did the rest!    She out-did herself…from the blue and pink cocktails, to the assortment of tasty foods, to the fun involved with the activities (not games!) to the adorable “onesies” that guests made for Baby T…it was a great party!    And the gifts for CeCe! ...

Sports Fan?  Not really.   Team Fan?  You bet! Sunday, the sun was out (for a little while) and I fully intended to spend a couple of hours at the pool.   Afterall, my “summer break” is getting shorter and shorter!   In fact, this past weekend is my last weekend with nothing to do!    However, the sun started to “hide” and the weather looked to be building towards some afternoon showers, so I decided to be more productive inside.  *I did end up at the pool later and no rain came! Welp…that productive plan went down the tubes when the Women’s Soccer World Cup Final game, with our beloved USA women, began.   Let me be clear… I KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT SOCCER!    In fact, my only experience with soccer is from the early days when Katie played instructional soccer…where the kids had to stay in their “rectangles” on the field.   Katie could be found most of the time telling the othe...

JUMPIN’ into the Jumpsuit!! I remember many years ago, like when I was a teenager, my Mom wore jumpsuits.    She actually made a couple of them for herself.    She was 5’ tall and around 120 pounds so you can imagine, she could rock it!   The one I remember most of all was a shiny black one that she wore to a New Year’s Eve party.    Looking back, I think it would have been considered very sexy, kind of “Cat-woman” like.    Even as a teenager, I was envious of that jumpsuit look. Fast forward to today!    Katie started with wearing a jumpsuit a few years ago.   She was able to rock it and I was a little envious of her too.    However, with Katie, I realized that short girls could find jumpsuits.   Her figure was definitely less curvy than mine and that caused me to give it a second thought.  But with her encouragement,   I thought about keeping an eye out for a potential jumpsuit for me...
Words...I love them, and I hate them I’m a journalism major, so words are my jam!   I’m a talker…(shocking!) and words come to me fairly easy.   But sometimes, words are just too much for me…yes, even I struggle with words and how they are intended sometimes. Let me start with the Match.com debate!   I listed myself as CURVY , remember?   Then at some point, I was editing my profile and Curvy disappeared, leaving only Heavyset as an option for me.   Heavyset is NOT an option for me on a dating site.    It will NEVER be an option!    Period.   End of Story!    Next word, DIVORCE !  UGH!  I hate that word.   It has so much negativity connected to it and I’m not a negative person…so having that word in my current vocabulary, one of the words that describes me, makes me cringe.   I know, you don’t have to say it…it does not define me…but it is part of who I am a...
