About Me

About Me UPDATE!   July 2023

Rebranding, Updating my  "About Me" section, or giving myself a Blog Makeover! Whatever you want to call it, the time has come. For nearly five years, I have written about random things...divorce, grandkids, aging parents, jobs, family and friends, partying, and a whole plethora of topics!  As I mentioned last August when I updated my blog, I found it interesting remembering where I was when I started started and where I am today. So much has happened during these past five years but I am good, no actually I AM GREAT!

My "greatness" comes from these things:

      1. I have survived four years of being divorced.
      2. I have become a grandma, "CeCe" to two precious little boys.
      3. After nearly two years on my own, I have moved back to my hometown roots which
has allowed me to reconnect with my high school friends and be closer to family.
      4. I have become a caregiver for my parents while living with them. It wasn't exactly my              plan but I'm right where I need to be and there are no regrets.
      5. I found a great part-time job that suits me and provides me a flexible schedule to be
          available for my parents.
      5. I have survived Covid (like so many of us have)...the lockdown, the cancellations, the
vaccines, the boosters, and even the illness twice.

And I'm sure there are many other things that are helping me to be "great!" For now, these things are enough and I'm glad I'm here with you!

This blog has evolved and I feel like sometimes I have so many things to say and others are just about my feelings in general. Life as a divorced woman can still be scary and the memories of my married life are still close to the surface, but I can safely say that I'm healed. I'm healed in that I have gone back to being Lisa Marcellino! I'm Italian again!! I'm ready to makeover by blog and introduce something that is definitely more me.

I'll always be a #grownasswoman, but it is time to get more to my true identity--a fun-loving, martini sipping, peacock! The peacock is my personality according to the Bird Test. I hope to give more insight on that later. Suffice to say, most of the traits of the peacock personality match up to me! Why not embrace this lovely creature???

Thanks to those who have stuck with me and to those who may be new to this, thanks for checking me out. I look forward to sharing this blog for the indefinite future. I hope you will stay with me!

From when I first started the blog in 2018  (just a reminder to myself)

About Me...

Why start a blog?   Well, I'm not sure, but I know that I have experienced a lot of life changes in the past two years and to be honest, I think it would be fun to share some of them...and maybe, at the same time, I can speak to others who may be in a similar situation.

There will be stories, there will be humor, and there will be honesty...sometimes brutal.   I am divorced, but that does not define me.   I'm still Lisa...Mom, Daughter, Sister, Niece, Cousin, Aunt, Great Aunt, Co-Worker, Classmate and Friend.

Starting over at 60 years old was not on my radar.   When I say "start over," I mean, lots of things.   Moving from 34 years of marriage to the single life is scary, interesting and truly entertaining.   This blog will be therapy for me and it will help me remember some of the things that I have gone through.

The "grown ass woman" thing came from a chat with Katie (my daughter) when I was choosing a sundress for Hawaii.   I didn't think I should have a sleeveless dress.   Katie, via instant messaging, said, "Before you look at these dresses, repeat after me.   I'm a grown ass woman and I can wear whatever I want!"   Basically, telling me, there were no rules.  Oprah has worn sleeveless for years, why can't I?

I shared that story with my therapy group one night and we decided it was a great tag line, so now, it is used frequently by this woman who knows very little about social media...but #grownasswoman.   That's me!!

This blog will be a part of my weekly routine, probably twice a week, with a variety of entries.   Feel free to share with your friends or family that may find it interesting (or entertaining).

Thanks to all of you for being there...you know who you are!   Let's do this!
