JUMPIN’ into the Jumpsuit!!
I remember many
years ago, like when I was a teenager, my Mom wore jumpsuits. She actually made a couple of them for herself. She was 5’ tall and around 120 pounds so you
can imagine, she could rock it! The one
I remember most of all was a shiny black one that she wore to a New Year’s Eve
party. Looking back, I think it would
have been considered very sexy, kind of “Cat-woman” like. Even as a teenager, I was envious of that
jumpsuit look.
Fast forward to
today! Katie started with wearing a
jumpsuit a few years ago. She was able
to rock it and I was a little envious of her too. However, with Katie, I realized that short
girls could find jumpsuits. Her figure was definitely less curvy than mine and that caused me to give it a second thought. But with her encouragement, I thought
about keeping an eye out for a potential jumpsuit for me. To be honest, I didn’t hold out a lot of hope.
Recently, I found
myself a part of a feisty debate on Facebook about jumpsuits. It started with a friend saying she was
afraid by the time she found a jumpsuit that she liked and looked good on her,
the trend would be over. Then the conversation began…
“I’m sorry ladies, but I’m 100% anti-jumpsuit.
No matter how cute it’s looking in the front or how versatile it can seemingly
be, I have not seen a single person look good in it from behind. Plus you have
to take the whole thing off to pee!”
“Everyone
always complains about taking them off to pee! I have to take pants off to pee,
what's so complicated about a jumpsuit? It's literally the same process as
pants, zipper and a button, maybe even minus a button depending on how it
closes!”
“I LOVE a good
jumpsuit but it definitely takes effort to find one that doesn't ride up or
hits you in the spots it's supposed to. I've started buying mine a size up and
altering them if I really like them. If I don't, I just give up.”
“I have faith that 1. You will find an awesome
jumpsuit and 2. The jumpsuits are here to stay!!”
“1. No. 2. No.
Jumpsuits are not at all cool and having worn one or two in the 1970's I can
attest to the problem they cause when one has to pee.”
“I am NOT a fan
of jumpsuits...I remember hating them as a kid. I am WAY too hydrated to fiddle
with a jumpsuit, if you get my drift!”
“Keep up the
search! The right one is out there somewhere! I have had several, and I’m
currently in a bit of a lull. Looking forward to getting back on the hunt!”
“I did a little
shopping around yesterday. I found s couple that technically fit but also I
didn’t feel that happy in them. I trust the right one is out there, waiting to
make me feel like a badass!”
STOP
THE MADNESS!! Jumpsuits may not be desired by everyone,
but they are definitely in style now and to be honest, I’m really enjoying the
trend! I am a curvy, 61-year-old and I
have four jumpsuits and have just ordered another one today! YASSSSSSS!
I’m
not sure if the fashion police would approve, but I (we) do not have to get the
approval of anyone, except ourselves.
Here’s how it works for a #grownasswoman…
We
shop, we like something, we try it on, we like how we look, we buy it and we
wear it with confidence.
It is a little more challenging for visits to the restroom, but seriously, I've had spanx, hose, and more that have made a restroom visit much more difficult than the jumpsuit. On occasion, I have needed a little assistance with a zipper and women in the restroom are always so helpful!

Yes,
we have those whose opinions we value and if one of those people told me I looked
ridiculous, I would probably pass on it.
But I believe if you feel good, you look good.
Now,
with all of this being said, I do ask that we all remember to be respectful of
others (and ourselves) by making sure we aren’t hanging out where we shouldn’t
be. Too much cleavage, not cool. Side boob, not cool. I don’t want to see your thong. I prefer not to see your butt crack. Just a suggestion, have someone give you the
once over to make sure you are truly your best in your jumpsuit…OR bathing
suit, or anything else you are wearing!
Back
to jumpsuits…In my mind and my heart, I’m rocking jumpsuits! I’ve embraced my curves in these jumpsuits
and have even found myself with off the shoulder and sleeveless styles.
Enjoy
the ride! Wear with pride! Join #teamjumpsuit!
