Girls trips

Recently, there was an article on Facebook that said, “Science Says Girl Trips Are Good For Your Mental Health!”   I have the link to the article below.   Check it out when you have time!

In the past, my girls’ trips were nothing too fancy…maybe an overnight shopping trip to the Outlets or a trip to Brown County.   Katie & I took time to do Mother/Daughter getaways or staycations, but really, nothing major.   However, those getaways were always so much fun!   They provided a man-free environment where the conversations were as girl-oriented as they could be.    We sipped cocktails and had tasty meals.

At some point, things changed!   One of my friends purchased a week rental in New Smyrna Beach during the live auction of my Gala.   She decided it would be her 60th birthday trip and so there were five of us celebrating her birthday.   The week included a private chef dinner, a psychic, a playlist, a dance party, gifts of the day, drinks of the day, a glamour lesson (facials and waxing!), and so much more!   It was all girls for a week.   To be honest, it was one of the best trips I had ever experienced!   SO.MUCH.FUN!

Then, the same friend (Okay, it’s Lyn!), decided that she wanted to go to the Cherry Blossom Festival, so we started planning that trip…a long weekend in Washington, DC.   The group of girls was changed a bit, but it was still the same…good food and drinks, gifts of the day, sightseeing, and celebrating our friendships as women!   Again, SO.MUCH.FUN!!!

There have been smaller/shorter trips for parties in Pittsburgh, or trips to Churchill Downs, swim parties, and dinners, and when it’s the girls, it feels like a mini girls trip.   These little trips are good for getting me to the next bigger trip.

My most recent “girls trip” was last week.   It was a week-long trip to Panama City Beach and it did not disappoint!   There were cocktails, sun and sand, swimdresses, jumpsuits, tasty meals, personalized cups, gifts of the day, private beach party at sunset, laughs and tears.    It was amazing and a great way for me to end my summer!   SO.MUCH.FUN!!!

As a recently divorced woman, I am grateful for these “girls trips” and the fun that fills my tank!  I don’t expect married friends to travel without their husbands all the time, but if there is an opportunity to take a girls only trip, I hope you can do it.  Your mental health will thank you!!

Thanks to the girls in my life who make traveling fun!   And thanks to the girls who are coming over today for some fun in the sun as I maximize pool time!    Love you all!!
