Oh June…I survived you! As the month of June comes to a close, I feel relief! I survived! That may not seem like much to you, but as I got into the month, I was working hard to not dwell on two dates that were difficult for me…One was my wedding anniversary (June 8) and the other was my “divorcery” (June 18). I can honestly say that I got through both of those days with minimal interruption or upset. A couple of my friends made a point of checking on me (totally not expected, but totally appreciated!). I did not make plans on those days and that was helpful. I had those days to do what I wanted. Both days started similarly…memories on Facebook, that were a little hard to see. I know you can turn off memories on Facebook, but they are part of who I am so I don’t know if I’m really there yet. As the days went on, I was busy, working on my projects and happily made entries on my “d...

Road Trip or Day Trip…Or Both?? Most of you know I wanted to take a day trip every week while I am off for the summer! Well, it hasn’t happened because of this crazy busy schedule I’ve had since Memorial Weekend. This past weekend, it dawned on me that I could make some of these trips “day” trips by adding a side trip coming or going. I was headed to Detroit this past weekend and thought, “How about if I stop at Grandpa’s Cheese Barn on the way home?” It was going to add just about an hour to my trip, but it is something on my list and I thought…I can do this! Once I decided to do it, I went online to check out the hours for Grandpas Cheese Barn and guess what? This darn rain had caused Grandpas Cheese Barn to CLOSE temporarily!!! (see picture below!) Epic Fail!! I will get there some day, but this past weekend was not the time! *Note to my followers...always check before headin...

I’m baaaaaack… I got home today from a whirlwind trip to Detroit to celebrate Baby T & Katie at a shower with Anthony’s cousins and friends. His Mom and his sister hosted a lovely event in a room full of love! As the countdown to Baby T’s arrival continues, getting all of the necessities is priority one and boy, have the family and friends shown so much kindness and generosity. I love watching Katie’s eyes shine when she sees something that they carefully chose on their registry, selected and wrapped by a guest. It’s so fun when she opens a package that is not something from the registry too. The "handmade with love" gifts are truly tear jerkers! I wanted to give her something off of the registry and a couple of weeks ago, I may have gone a little crazy at Von Maur…they had a great selection of unisex sleepers and I couldn’t help myself. So yesterday, she opened a box full of assorted size sleepers....

How’s Your Summer Going? So…today, I had counseling and we talked about how my summer is going. I have to be honest, the things that I had thought I would get done are not getting done as quickly as I thought they would be. I'm not even sure if I will get everything I want to accomplish done during the next six weeks. Are these expectations my own? Probably. So, I decided to focus on my accomplishments, rather than what I had not gotten done. I had hoped to take eight, day trips, in June and July, one a week. Today is the middle of my third week. NO DAY TRIP has been taken…not even one! However, since June 1, I have travelled to Louisville, two times, and to Pittsburgh. I’m leaving in two days for Detroit…So, I’m counting these trips as day (road) trips. They aren’t exactly the day trips I had planned but I feel like I’ve been doing the driving alone, so I’m goin...

CeCe’s First Glance…at the nursery!! *FULL DISCLOSURE … This blogpost may not be your cup of tea! It’s all about a grandma-to-be who just spent a few days with the momma-to-be! Maybe a little schmaltzy, maybe a little cheesy, but soooo heartfelt! I have just returned from a few days with my Katie, a mini Stay-Cation while Anthony was out of town. It was delightful of course, but seeing the nursery for Baby T was definitely a highlight! It’s not quite finished, but the room is fit for a prince/princess for sure! There are all of the comforts of a new baby’s room…baby bed, (still waiting for the mattress!), changing table/dresser, rocker/glider, and lovely bookshelves! This room sports a huge picture window and I can only imagine Baby T looking out that window, so full of wonder! There is a beautiful piece of artwork that was a gift from Anthony’s sister…commissioned and pa...

Where are you on the Human Parts Chart? ™ Today, I’m going to give a shout out to my counselor and my counseling sessions. I have mentioned counseling more than once in this blog and I talk about what I have learned along the way. On Monday, I wrapped up my most recent “group” therapy session and I’m feeling even more grateful for the amazing care I have received. When Greg and I started this divorce process, (January 2017), we went to counseling together. I am a firm believer in counseling and this first counselor for us was a marriage counselor. We knew the marriage could not be saved, but she helped us navigate the process that we were going through and she was able to get us to talk to one another about what we were feeling, and where we were going and the path that we were taking. After 5 months or so, I knew it was time to get my own counselor. I met with her every week, then every two weeks, and now ...

Summer Break and the Pool! Just two pool days into my summer break and I have a few observations. I admire those who can wear bathing suits that don’t cover much! Their confidence level must be through the roof! I proudly wear my swim dress and can't stop patting myself on the back. I love how kids (12 and under) will get in the water, no matter what temperature it is! They jump in, get out, jump in, get out, jump in and get out…over and over. Their blue lips and shivering bodies mean nothing to them. Oh how I wish I had that kind of energy! I am jealous of those who have the patience to lay still, timing themselves, posing with their arms overhead, or laying on their side to make sure their bodies are exposed to equal amounts of sun. Contortionists have nothing on them! I proudly sport the tan side on my front…when I talk away, I look like a ghost on the back!! Tattoos are more pop...

Choosing my Grandma name...It's a thing!! Yes indeed...now that the Grandma news has sunk in, and the planning is in full swing, it's time to start reviewing potential "grandma" names! Who knew that this was a thing? I know I have lots of friends who are grandmas and really, I don't know that any one of them has the same grandma name as another in my group. When did it become a thing? First, there was the big pregnancy thing on Facebook. We've all seen the cute footprints or the small cowboy boots, or maybe a sibling wearing a "big brother/sister" shirt. That became the announcement of a pregnancy. Then, there was the "gender reveal" celebration. These parties started off with a cake color of pink or blue inside. Then, it seemed to take on a whole new look with parties that could rival any celebration I have attended...colored smoke, confetti guns, piƱatas, balloons and a variety of other spe...

Oh June…I used to LOVE you!!! It’s amazing how one month can have so many reminders of sad things! June is my birthday month…yes birthday month, as in I appreciate being celebrated all month! It used to be my anniversary month, but now, it is a month of different kinds of "anniversaries." I am trying hard not to let these reminders get me down, but I have to tell you…it ain’t easy! Coming off of a great, celebratory May, I am now officially “off work” for the months of June & July. Time for getting things done, seeing people and staying hopeful and positive! Time for my "done" lists, time for "Lisa Days" and just time to de-compress! Last year at this time, I was pretty much a mess. I was preparing for my 34 th wedding anniversary, my meeting with the divorce judge, and my 60 th birthday. Many of you who were around me during that time, know that it ...
