CeCe’s First Glance…at the nursery!!
*FULL DISCLOSURE…This blogpost may not be your cup
of tea! It’s all about a grandma-to-be
who just spent a few days with the momma-to-be! Maybe a little schmaltzy, maybe a little
cheesy, but soooo heartfelt!
I have just returned from a few days with my Katie, a mini
Stay-Cation while Anthony was out of town.
It was delightful of course, but seeing the nursery for Baby T was
definitely a highlight!
It’s not quite finished, but the room is fit for a
prince/princess for sure! There are all
of the comforts of a new baby’s room…baby bed, (still waiting for the
mattress!), changing table/dresser, rocker/glider, and lovely bookshelves! This room sports a huge picture window and I
can only imagine Baby T looking out that window, so full of wonder!
There is a beautiful piece of artwork that was a gift from
Anthony’s sister…commissioned and painted by the same artist that has a piece
hanging in their living room. It’s
abstract and unique. It is the
centerpiece of the colors in the room.
Since Katie & Anthony have chosen to wait until the
birth to find out the baby’s gender, the room is not filled with pink or
blue. There is a lot of white, with an
accent wall that holds the painting.
The crib is white and the rocker/glider is a light sage green. Greg and I provided the rocker/glider as our
gift. I know I’ll be spending a lot of
time rocking Baby T!! The changing table/dresser is passed down from
us as it was Katie’s changing table/dresser.
My heart nearly burst when I saw that dresser being prepared for Baby T.
All of the colors go together and the white makes the room
seem so bright and open…and big! There will be plenty of room for playing in this
nursery. The bookshelves will house
lots of books from Katie’s childhood, as well as the books that have been
coming in as gifts. We spent time this
past week, placing her childhood books on the shelves…Dr. Suess, the Magic
School Bus, Danny the Dinosaur, and so many more!
Katie was and still is, an avid reader. Greg and I used to sit in the nursery before
she was born, and we would read books to this baby we were expecting. Those were some of the best moments of my
pregnancy. It was no surprise that she
loved going to the Library on a regular basis.
She even had a mother that waited in line with her for the release of a
couple of the Harry Potter books.
I have no doubt that Baby T will be a reader. I’ve been reading a couple of the books that have been given and let me say…they are pretty darn cute and very entertaining for this CeCe! One of the books was featured on Facebook with a grandmother reading to her baby grandchild. If you want to see something funny, click on the link below and check it out. I bought this book and had a family reading of it just a few weeks ago. I wish I would have made it a drinking game! It was so funny to have the family participation!! I highly recommend watching this video…let me know if you kept a straight face!
Katie and I had lots of good “Momma” talking…pregnant women
have so many more resources than we ever had.
Doctors, doulas, midwives, birthing/post partum plans, stroller systems,
video monitors, are just some of the things I didn’t know much about until
now. Katie is devouring books of all
types to learn about having a baby…before, during and after the birth. It’s amazing, and a little frightening.
Remember our car seats when we were
kids? How about the umbrella strollers? Now, car seats and strollers are
“systems.” I’m not sure I could handle
the information overload at this point in my life…guess that’s why 60 year old
women don’t have babies!!
Anyway, suffice to say that Baby T will be in good hands
with his/her parents. I couldn’t be
more excited to watch my Katie become a Mom.
Just a little less than three months of waiting! Baby T…you are in for the ride of your
life!!!
XOXOXOX
