Choosing my Grandma name...It's a thing!!

Yes indeed...now that the Grandma news has sunk in, and the planning is in full swing, it's time to start reviewing potential "grandma" names!   Who knew that this was a thing?   I know I have lots of friends who are grandmas and really, I don't know that any one of them has the same grandma name as another in my group.

When did it become a thing?   First, there was the big pregnancy thing on Facebook.   We've all seen the cute footprints or the small cowboy boots, or maybe a sibling wearing a "big brother/sister" shirt.   That became the announcement of a pregnancy.

Then, there was the "gender reveal" celebration.   These parties started off with a cake color of pink or blue inside.  Then, it seemed to take on a whole new look with parties that could rival any celebration I have attended...colored smoke, confetti guns, piñatas, balloons and a variety of other special effects. 

Birth announcement and showers have always been big deals and now...it's all about the Grandma Name.   A lot of my friends have asked, "What are you going to use for your Grandma Name?"   Personally, I prefer that my new grandchild figures it out on his/her own.  But, this video came out on Facebook and I just couldn't let it go!   I need a Grandma Name - STAT!    The link to the video is below.    (you may have to copy and paste it, but it is worth it!!)

I called my Grandmothers Mimi and Grandma.   My Mom is Betty Boop to Katie, but Grandma Betty Boop and just Boop to my nieces and nephews.  What will my name be???

Now...to find the right name for me.   There are the traditional names...Grandma, Grammy, MeMaw, and there are the names more popular with certain groups...like Nonna (Italian), YiaYia (Greek), and Bela (short for Abuela in Spanish). There are names that are especially common in the south...Sweetie, Honey, Maw, Lolly, and more.   Two syllables seem to be popular too...Mimi, GiGi, Pippy, Bunny and Coco.  What will be the best for me?

As many of you know, I am often called "Queenie" and I often call others "Lovey."  Both of these could work.   But to be honest, I want something easy to say and something that is a little different.    When I was younger, my Dad often call me "CeCe" as a nickname for Lisa.  It actually was the name of a restaurant off of the turnpike in New York, where we ate while traveling to Syracuse.   Even today, he uses the name at times for me.   

After much thought and careful deliberation, I have chosen CeCe as my Grandma Name!

I'm thinking it will be easy to say, it will be the 2-syllable name I wanted and to be honest...it came from a name that my Dad uses with me so it's being passed down.  There is sentiment attached to it and that's what it is about to me.

Now excuse me while I plan my "GRANDMA NAME REVEAL PARTY!!"    Martinis and munchies will be served!!   See you there!!

    Yay CiCi!! It’s perfect!! The best thing is, it will be easy for TeenyTrupiano to pronounce EARLY! Grandmas must think of these things!!!

THE LAST WEDNESDAY of the YEAR!! Good grief!! It’s nearly 11pm, on Wednesday. Once again, my days are so messed up! With the holidays falling on the weekend, I haven’t been able to keep the days straight! However, I do know that today is December 29 and there are no more Wednesdays in 2021! WOW, just WOW! Love is Love! This past weekend was one full of extraordinary love. Two people who are very special to me joined their hands in marriage.   I couldn’t be happier for these two guys.   In a world where it is a struggle to find kindness and good deeds, this past weekend, there was kindness and joy in a room full of quite the mixture of people.
