I WAS READY FOR MY CLOSE-UP….

Happy Friday Friends! I had planned to send out my blogpost on Wednesday, as part of my “back on track” thing, but the information that I wanted to share was not quite ready. So today, a Special Edition of Martini Musings…just for you!!!

As you may know/remember, I had a day of photos and filmmaking a few weeks ago. This video was an all-day production and I really didn’t know for sure how it would turn out or exactly where it would be presented.

Yesterday (Thursday), I received the email with the link to a video that will soon be on the AARP Facebook page and website. In addition, there would be an article on the AARP magazine online, with the possibility of the article showing up in the AARP magazine.

Because you are the people who have loved me for most of my adult life (some even longer!), I want you to have the first dibs on the viewing.

This video is a snippet of my journey and why I joined The Ethel Circle, which is a Facebook page for older women (named after the Ethel who was instrumental in starting AARP).

Somehow, getting involved on Facebook with this group, I have met lots of new people, all of whom I have enjoyed and become close to. In addition, we have gatherings, almost monthly, for lunch, painting pottery and happy hour. There are so many more plans to get together and for someone who said, “I’m too old for new friends” I have proven myself wrong.

Next weekend, June 7-9, there will actually be an “Ethel Gathering” at the Drury Inn, with several Ethels (plus our locals) getting together for Trivia, food, drink, and lots of other fun things…there will be swag bags, sitting by the pool, a trip to Churchill Downs for some, and who knows what other mischief we’ll get into. I thought it would be fun to get people from other states to take on the Derby City. Watch for updates after that weekend!! It’s going to be so much fun!

You know, it’s been almost 4 years since I moved back to Louisville, and almost 6 years since my divorce was final. Lots of changes have been made in my life. I’m lucky to say that I have such a great group of friends in Louisville and of course, my wonderful friends in Cincy and beyond, but I’ve added another group to my tribe…my Ethel friends.

Thanks to all of you for loving and supporting me!! This video and article are a way to express just some of my journey!!! Xoxoxoxox
