I’m in Pittsburgh and I’m on Baby Time! By now, I’m sure most of you know my only daughter, Katie and her husband Anthony, added a new baby boy to their family this week. We all welcomed Adrian James Trupiano to this crazy family of ours. Adrian decided he was ready to get out and although his arrival date was originally October 18, he arrived a little early, with no issues! We are thrilled and the timing was perfect for me. September 26 at 9:01pm was his entry to this world. With all that has been crazy and uncertain, one thing is for sure, the miracle of birth is something no one can dispute. I am now the CeCe to two precious boys. I am in love with both of them and as a result, my heart is bursting. This time was different…Katie got pregnant during the pandemic, which meant the rules were different for delivery time. Masks were worn by everyone except the expectant moms, no waiting in the waiting in the waiting room like last time and definitely no one in the room wh...

My New Favorite Line… Agree to Disagree! Wow…has this become a new mantra or what? It was first very apparent that friends and family of mine had different opinions about our political connections. Sadly, some people “let go” of the friendship but fortunately, most agreed with me…”No darn president is going to end our friendship!” No one is powerful enough for that to happen to me! Then came the pandemic. At first, we were all pretty united about what to do…wear masks, stay safely separated, yadda yadda. Then, it began to drag on. As you all know, we got tired of the separation, tired of the “rules” and experiencing all the feels. It even got a name, Covid Fatigue . Many of us experienced covid personally, or within our small circles. We know that most everyone was touched by covid in some way. Low and behold…the vaccine appeared! We were lining up to get the shots like we were being given ...

You are doing what??? Call me crazy, but I have a new project and I couldn’t be more excited! Some of you will be all over this one and some will not. Let me say this is just one of the ways I’ll be sharing it with friends and family so if it is not your thing, then scroll on by…I love you all! After reading a post on Facebook from one of my besties, I picked up the phone to call her. She has taken on the task of collecting children’s coats and toys for the 200 incoming Afghan families that will soon be relocating in Louisville. She had met with one family, with a translator and a member of Kentucky Refugees Ministries, to greet them and to try to find out how she could help with their immediate needs. The children only knew two words of English, “Good Morning” and they repeated it more than once, beaming with pride for being able to speak something at all. Many organizations in our very generous city are taking on the different areas of need and this friend of min...

Where does the time go??? This past weekend, I was asking that question several times! The celebrating of Gabriel’s second birthday and the celebrating of Katie’s last month of pregnancy! Good grief…time is flying by! I was able to get a few days away to get to Pittsburgh one last time before T2 (baby Turpiano #2) arrives, probably early October. Looks like Gabriel’s birthday will usually fall on or near Labor Day, which is nice for travel reason! Once Katie & Anthony decided on a date for his birthday, I decided to have a Baby Brunch (or a Sprinkle, as some may call it!). Traditions dictate that a second pregnancy doesn’t necessarily mean a baby shower. But for goodness sake, this girl is nurturing a human being and as far as I’m concerned, it’s a reason to celebrate! With parties in place, I headed to Pittsburgh for a visit that was sure to be full of sweet treats! My original plan to host a brunch was upset when the restaurant enclosed their patio! Af...

Busy Busy Busy! Wednesday, off day! Oh how I love the sound of that! It’s a busy day today so I thought, instead of working hard to produce an official post, I’d get everyone caught up on a few things! Are you ready??? Railing! I have been “de-railed” so to speak! After trying to get the railing on our steps, paid for through the long-term care company that provides such coverage, I was rejected! Rather than let it go, I sent a letter to the CEO & President, the top four officers of the company, and the President of the Board. Gotta say, it felt good although I expected nothing in return. Within 48 hours, I received a call from one of the senior staff people, explaining the policy in more detail and he was kind enough to say it wasn’t just cognitive deficiency, but there were seven areas of concern and he would have to have two of those areas before he would qualify. The things were daily activities like feeding himself, dressing himself, walking with assistance, cogni...
