Questions of the Day… Sometimes, life throws us curve balls and force us to do some thinking. I’m not going to take a deep dive here, as time is short and it’s been a crazy couple of days. Suffice to say, this #grownasswoman is running on empty. When you live with your parents, who are 85 and 87, you count your blessings for the small victories…surviving a fall, taking a walk on the driveway, managing medicines without too much difficulty, and staying ahead of what they might want or need. For me, keeping them healthy and safe is job number one. Recently, my parents were given a homework assignment. This is not something they have to do in one day, but rather something they need to work on in their free time. I have never been a fan of homework but I do like journaling (when I have time!) and this assignment has definitely given me food for thought. They were given some statements to consider: · WHAT DO I WANT TO SAY? · ...

Where Does the Time Go? Today is blog day and my day off. It should be easy to get a post out, right? Well, not so much! It’s 9:30pm and I have nearly forgotten to get this post done. Tuesday nights are my nights “off” and an opportunity to sleep in. I stay across the street overnight so I can sleep in until 7:30am, which is divine! This morning started like all of my other Wednesdays but somehow, the day flew by. Helping Mom, and managing a couple of “beauty” treatments that took up a good part of the day. Of course, the snow was just a little bit of a surprise and maybe a reminder that nothing is ever like we plan! My “beauty” treatments included dermaplaning and a chemical peel. Someday, I’ll do a post about dermaplaning…suffice to say, my face feels like a baby’s bottom!!! Afterwards, a pedi, which I desperately needed and happily enjoyed! Then, something even more wonderful happened…I went to Kohl’s and purchased two pairs of shoes and I went to Von Maur and purchase...

A Public Service Announcement! Today, I go out on a limb and share “too much information” with my friends! This is your warning, that if you don’t like “potty” talk, you should probably skip this one. However, I feel strongly about sharing this with those of you who may be getting close to having your first colonoscopy or wondering why you need to have one. This week was my 10-year colonoscopy! Yep…I was fortunate 10 years ago to get a good report so I didn’t have to do it for 10 more years. I also received a good report this year so it will be 10 more years again! (I realized I’ll be 72 at that point and can hardly imagine that!) Anyway, at the age of 52, 10 years ago, my doctor hounded me about getting my first colonoscopy, which was due at age 50. I had been putting it off because I had witnessed Greg’s first one and I was appalled. Let me give you a little insider information. He had to spend 24 hours preparing for the test. This meant the day before, he was ...

EASTER…a recap! Yay for vaccines, gorgeous weather and the opportunity to gather together, even if on a limited basis! Easter weekend brought my little family to Louisville for actual hugs and lots of laughs! Gabriel is nineteen months old and although not fully entrenched in the Easter traditions, he did enjoy the majority of the activities and participated in them as much as he could! Since we had not been together since before Christmas, and that was a totally outside masked up visit for all of us, I wasn’t really sure how he would react. He is always excited on our Facetime calls, but because of Covid, he hasn’t really been around a lot of other people. Those worries were quickly tossed aside, when I picked him up from the car seat and walked in to say hi to his great-grandparents and his uncles. He blew kisses to the crowd, and in the sweetest, most loveable little voice, said, “Hi!” We walked around and re-introduced him to everyone, stopping to let them chat with...
