Staying Busy…it’s my Jam!

As I type this tonight, I realize that I did not have a blogpost last Wednesday…so much for jumping back in!! This time, I am going to use a couple of excuses, things that have gotten in the way. I can’t feel guilty though because sometimes, it just happens.

I had a lovely weekend with my daughter, collecting on my Christmas present, which was a weekend at the Louisville Marriott, a Broadway show, and a Drag Brunch. We also enjoyed a long nap and lots of mother/daughter talk and laughs. My buddy Gabriel sent a couple of videos letting his Mom know that he missed her and that he was being good and kind. I decided to send him a video and he responded right away to Katie with these words, “Ummm, Mom, hi. I wanted you to know that those videos I sent were for you, not CeCe. Oh well, I guess I sent too many videos.” Now, I don’t have to tell you that once we stopped laughing, I was highly insulted. I thought I was over it but once I returned home, it was one of the first things I had to mention. Back to reality…

I’m currently preparing for the main fundraising event for my workplace. Community Catholic Center is hosting their only fundraising event, tomorrow night. It’s small but it is mighty. The evening will be simple with no raffles, no auctions, just an enjoyable “happy hour” gathering at the community center of one of our local parishes. There will be about 150 people there, enjoying complimentary cocktails and appetizers. They will hear a testimonial from a student, a message from Catholic leadership in Louisville, and an “ask” from one of our generous donors, who also serves as a tutor. She will speak from her heart and I feel certain, the guests will be generous as they always are.

It's not as difficult as a Gala, but it is just as important for our little non-profit. We are fortunate to have continued support and I look forward to meeting and greeting our donors. It’s always a happy time! So, if you will, please send good vibes to us as we look for new pledges, increased donations, and possibly exceeding our goal!

I’ll have pictures of the “before” and “after” table that will have our Thank You Bourbon bottles. A donation of $1,000 gets you bottle of bourbon! Here’s to getting rid of the 50-60 bottles we will have on display!!!

I’m also working on an event for a group of women…”Let’s Take on Derby City” which is a weekend of fun with women 50 & over. There will be trivia, tasty food and drink, and lots of surprises at our Derby themed party!

This thing started because I needed something to look forward to and I had an audience. It’s going to be at the Drury Inn, June 7-9 and although it is not too complicated, there is a lot to do. There are women coming from all over the country! How did that happen??? Fortunately, the fundraiser for work will be over before I have to kick it up a notch!

Amid all of this, there are festivities beginning with Derby season! There are outfits to coordinate and trying to take time to get to some of the fun things that are offered! I did get a GOLD Derby pin, which means I am in the running for a Grand Prize after Derby! I’m looking forward to winning $20,000!! A girl can dream, right?

I’m still caring for Mom and she’s hanging in there! We laugh about my schedule, the things I forget, and how I need a nap on my day’s off.

So…yeah, I sometimes lose track of time, but I do thrive on most of this controlled chaos! I’m back friends…xoxoxoxo
