Good Bye Summer…
I honestly
cannot believe that summer is officially over. September just snuck up on me
for some reason. With cancelled weekends because of Covid, I just wanted summer
to go on until we could make up the fun things.
Days at the
pool were numbered on one hand. I did squeeze in some quick visits with friends
on patios and a fruity drink or two. Overall the summer just flew by but I don’t
feel like I have much to show for it.
At my previous
job, I had June & July off and I managed to do a million things during
those two months. Now, my job is year-round (poor me!) so there is no real
distinction between the seasons. August marked my second full year at the job
and I still really like it…the hours, the flexibility and the people make for the
perfect setup for me. I’m grateful for the job and hope that this will be my
final work place! Don’t panic co-workers…I’m not retiring anytime soon!! LOL!!!
I have been
working on my “school work” (the projects that I have and hope to complete this
year!). There are the basics like getting things to Goodwill, returning Amazon
items to Kohls (this is super easy if you haven’t done it!), continuing the
name change projects, organizing a couple of small events, and working on my “I’m
Dead, Now What” book.
Some days are
more productive than others but honestly, I’ve learned not to beat myself up
about that. I used to feel frustrated and disappointed when my “to do” list
didn’t get completed. Now, it seems like if it doesn’t get done, it just gets
added to the list again.
The days that
may not be productive are days that I’m off (weekends and Wednesdays and
Fridays). You all know those are busy days for me…doctor appointments with
parents, haircuts, grocery shopping, and general catching up. Who’s to say
those things are not considered part of a productive day? Staying busy is
productive. Sometimes, my personal productivity takes a back seat, but that’s
okay.
Staying busy is
obviously the reason that the days go by so quickly. Happily, I have things to
look forward to this fall so I won’t mind the days leading up to those things
going quickly…I am anxious to have good times in the next few months.
I look forward
to football on the weekends! I look forward to festivals and holiday craft
shows! I look forward to Candlelight Christmas at The Biltmore in November. I
am especially looking forward to a weekend wedding trip where Katie will me
meet and spend some time with her Momma!
Instead of wondering where the time goes, I’ll look at my calendar and see all
of the fun things that I was able to do. I remember Mom telling me not to wish
my life away, but she never mentioned that the older I get, the faster the
clock ticks. So, I’ll embrace each day, productive or not, and keep working on
my list! It’s a good thing that I purchased new notebooks when the school
supplies were on sale!!!
I can’t close
without bragging about my grandsons. Their joint birthday party was cancelled
because they were still protecting others due to their recent bout with Covid.
I travelled up there to hug on them and celebrate my three-year-old Gabriel and
soon to be one-year-old Adrian. It was a great visit and Gabriel enjoyed the
cake and gifts, while Adrian had to be convinced to smash the cake while
watching for the huge mylar balloon that spooked him a bit! It was a great
weekend to see my little family and I’m looking forward to seeing them at
Thanksgiving!!
Life is good!!
Can’t wait to see many of you in the months to come!! Xoxoxoxo
