Let’s Catch Up…

It’s been a minute since I last gave any updates so thought today, I’d do just that!

NAME CHANGE!!! Thanks to all of those who embraced my name change. Some of you sent me a screenshot of your phone contact update letting me know you were on board! Some of you sent notes and your comments on the blog post were awesome. I even received a personalized mouse pad…(picture below!)

As I mentioned, it is no disrespect to my Houser family members, but I’m happy to be a Marcellino again! I’m almost done with the updates/changes (Whew!).

BIRTHDAY TIME!!! My boys (Gabriel & Adrian) are celebrating birthdays next month!
How can it be that my first-born grandson will be turning three and his baby brother will be one??? This year, Katie & Anthony are doing a joint party for them! We all know it won’t really matter to Adrian and Gabriel is planning things like popsicles (the theme of the party!) and party hats! There will be plenty of cake and lots of sweet treats and of course, this CeCe will be there!!

I have missed those boys and look forward to spending time with them over Labor Day weekend.

THE HOMEFRONT!!! All is well here at home! We had a little interruption at the end of July and first part of August with me getting COVID. Yep…I truly thought I was going to be one of the lucky ones, but I was wrong. It hit like a ton of bricks for about two and a half days and then, with the help of some good medicine (Paxlovid and cough medicine), I began to get back to myself. I literally stayed locked in my bedroom for over five days, wearing a mask almost non-stop but especially when I left to go to the bathroom. I was nowhere near my parents, except when they would tap on my door each morning to wave and make sure I was still alive. Needless to say, I was terrified that I could pass it to my parents. That did not happen and I feel like I have two people in this house who will escape! We tested regularly, wore masks even after I was negative and again a few days later just to be safe. The guidelines are confusing at times but the testing was welcome and with a testing station 5 minutes from home, we could confirm when needed.

I want to say that I am convinced my bout with Covid was less severe, (I am not minimizing; this thing was tough) because I was fully vaccinated, boosted and my doctor had access to the drug that is being used to treat Covid. I am also convinced that my parents have escaped for the same reason.

With that being said my life is not on hold. I am venturing out with friends and those I know who are taking precautions and don’t mind if I wear a mask. I stayed away from the crowds for about 10 days after my second negative test. I still wear my mask at Kroger and will wear it around large crowds. I’ll be one of the ones wearing a mask on airplanes even though they aren’t required. Masks have worked for me and many others so why change now? As many people have said, “You do you and I’ll do me!” I will be doing that because I still come home to two people who are elderly and vulnerable.

My grandsons have both had their two shots and I couldn’t be more grateful for their parents who have made that a priority. We are going to learn to live with Covid and I’m sure other diseases and maybe for me, that will be the mask. For now, I continue to be grateful that I didn’t get deathly ill or even die.

CELEBRATING MY GIRL!!! I can hardly believe that my only child will be turning 34 in a week! She has been the best daughter a momma could ask for. She has given me a wonderful son-in-law and the two cutest little guys to love. Next week, I’ll fill you in on our plans to celebrate! There will be vodka and pedicures involved.

In the meantime, stay well and know you are loved!
