SPRING BREAK!!

Last Thursday, I left work and headed to Pittsburgh! I had planned a long weekend getting caught up with my little family and it was the kick-off to my spring break! Yes, I am fortunate enough to have a spring break with my job! Since the schools that we deal with are scheduled off, we were too.

Spring break has not been a thing for me for a very long time! I took a trip with one friend, my senior year in high school. It was awesome…we stayed with my aunt and uncle so it wasn’t exactly the spring break our classmates were having but it was our spring break and we had a great time. Believe it or not, my aunt had us call our parents to see if it was okay for us to have a glass at wine, at the Polynesian restaurant we were going to that night. Remember, I am a goodie two-shoes and this was way out of my comfort zone! Just so you know, our parents said yes, and that night, I had my first buzz!!! Woo hoo!!

I was never in the financial position to take a big trip during spring break in college so I really never thought much about spring break.

This time, it was different! I was taking a break and it was going to be with my people! The trip was easy, except packing…packed too much because I didn’t know if I’d need sweaters or flip flops! It was fairly cool all weekend so the sweaters came in handy.

There was hugging and laughing and cuddling! There were crafted cocktails and tasty foods. Gabriel’s big boy room is next to the guest room (he calls it CeCe’s room!) and in the morning, he would come snuggle with me…watch a little Sesame Street on my phone, and then we’d head downstairs for the day. Adrian was big-eyed as he heard Gabriel’s voice! He squealed and had a big smile waiting for us each morning.

I went to a play at the theater company where Katie works. I got to see her in action, guiding blind patrons through a pre-show descriptive talk about the sets and then running the actor’s dialogue on an electronic sign that the hard-of-hearing guests could use. She is the Director of Education and Accessibility and it is amazing to see how the theater adapts to those who are hearing or visually impaired. I loved tagging along and seeing her thriving at what she does best!

The play was a great way for us to wrap up the weekend. We headed home and got into our pjs and watched Netflix. The weekend flew by and on Monday morning, I was off…headed back home.

I had lots of plans for this week…getting organized, paying taxes, making phone calls, taking Mom to a couple of appointments, lunch with friends and a trip to Hadley Pottery, since it is closing up shop!

Memories are popping up on Facebook from a Cherry Blossom trip and an amazing Hawaiian vacation. Seeing these memories made me wish for a fun trip for spring break!

It’s now Wednesday night, and although I have accomplished a few of the things on my list, the days have flown by. Just two more days of spring break…I can’t wait to retire and have fulltime spring break! LOL!
In the meantime, I’ll get as much done as I can during these next couple of days, and what I don’t finish, I’ll take care of later!

Sometimes, it’s so easy to be grown-up and sometimes, I’d love to be as innocent as Gabriel & Adrian, hugging and snuggling without a care in the world.

One of my goals while I was in Pittsburgh was to get a picture of my two favorite little people with me! This is as good as it gets! Gabriel won’t sit and pose, but he loves taking selfies…pushing the button himself! Maybe next time!!!
