THE LAST WEDNESDAY of the YEAR!!
Good grief!! It’s
nearly 11pm, on Wednesday. Once again, my days are so messed up! With the
holidays falling on the weekend, I haven’t been able to keep the days straight!
However, I do know that today is December 29 and there are no more Wednesdays
in 2021! WOW, just WOW!
I decided it’s
probably update time, and this time, maybe my look back at life as I have known
it in 2021!
*Last years
holidays were different, and this year’s holidays were different too. Sadly,
Covid was a part of each year and it is my holiday wish that next year…we can
get back to our traditions!
*June 2021
marked the one-year anniversary of my arrival back in Louisville. It also
marked the four-year mark of my divorce being final, and yet, I didn’t have a
meltdown. Although I’m still trying to map out my “new” chapter, it is easier.
*August 2021 I
celebrated one year at a job that I really like! I feel so fortunate that I got
the parttime work that gives me a purpose (outside of the home!).
*September 2021
was a big month for me! I spent an extended weekend with Greg as we celebrated
Gabriel’s second birthday. Although it could have been really awkward, it wasn’t
and we realized that we can celebrate with Katie and her family, together. This
is a big milestone and I’m grateful for that.
*In addition to
celebrating Gabriel in September, we welcomed our newest family member, Adrian.
In his three short months, he has brought so much joy to all of us and just a
couple of weeks ago, he met his great-grandparents and Mom was able to hold him…a
lot!
*Vaccines became
readily available and fortunately, most of my loved ones (family and friends) are
fully vaxxed.
*In July and
October, I attended social events, lovely weddings and thankfully, precautions
kept me safe.
*My 45th
high school reunion happened and it was a success! Unfortunately, despite our
best efforts, two attendees tested positive for Covid, but everyone who
contacted me after this news was announced, tested negative!
*UC is headed
to the Cotton Bowl and the Bengals are doing well…wish I was in Cincinnati now,
when the city is on fire!!!
*December I had
my eyes opened to the demise of the daily newspaper. My parents enjoy the paper
as it fills a lot of time for them. Although we have gone back and forth with
our subscriptions due to insane pricing, we started to get the paper again in
October. On December 23, the newspaper arrived with a note stating that the December
23 paper would be the last one until December 26…NO NEWSPAPER on Christmas Eve
or Christmas Day. WHAAAAAATTTT???? Daily newspaper skipping days?
Then just
today, we received a paper saying that tomorrow’s paper, December 30, would be the
last paper until January 2. As I put my hand to my head, and shake in
disbelief, I wonder why my parents love the paper so much. It just isn’t the
same.
It’s probably
the same reason that they have a landline. Or the same reason that they still
write checks for all of their bills. Or the same reason that they go in shock
when we tell them the price of milk or ground beef.
Whatever the reason,
they are so sweet and understanding about the paper. So, I’ll keep providing it
for them but I will be contacting customer service, asking them for a credit
for the days that were skipped…just because I can!
In the meantime, I look forward to a quiet New Year’s weekend and then
returning to work at the start of the new year.
It’s been a year…ups and downs, but lots of blessings! Happy New Year to all of
you! Let’s hope that 2022 will provide lots of opportunities to see one another
without worry!!!
Love to you and
yours!!!
What a great pic of Adrian looking into his great grandmother's eyes..... so sweet!
