OUCH!!!
Today has been
interesting! Hence, my delay in getting this out!
As you all
know, I love my high school! Today, I had the chance to do a quick visit,
helping to give out Alumni t-shirts to the seniors who will be come alums on
Friday. Lots of memories came flooding back. Waggener has changed a lot. It’s
not the school I went to but they are doing good things there and I was happy
for those smiling faces.
Those young
people have goals and dreams but they have not had the typical senior year
experiences. I was happy to see food trucks, graduation tickets and a free
yearbook for each of them. At least today, there was some semblance of the last
day of school for the seniors.
Friday, they
will graduate on the football field, six feet apart from one another and they
have been given permission to tell their families it is okay to cheer for them!
The principal told them to let family and friends know. She also told them that
they would have a large umbrella under their seats, something for them to keep,
but also something to have handy on Friday because it is supposed to rain.
There will be graduation, rain or shine, as long as storms are not severe.
Like I said,
things are different for sure.
After that fun
part of my day, I had an appointment at my dermatologist to remove a mole. UGH!
She had done a biopsy of a mole on my left shoulder and although it was not a
melanoma, it was atypical and had some suspicious cells on the margins so it
was recommended that it be removed, along with some additional tissue to be further
tested.
I love my
doctor and she has a great bedside manner, but right now, as I type this, I don’t
like her so much. The numbing medicine is wearing off and the incision is
starting to burn and ache. You see, that little oversized freckle, that was
actually a mole, has been removed and 26 stitches later, I’m rid of that thing.
They will send it to the lab and she doesn’t think anything will come back, but
we really never know until the pathologist has the final look.
Like many of you, I spent days on end at the pool as a kid. We used zinc oxide
on our noses and nothing else. As I got older, I used baby oil, although I was the
fair skinned Italian in the family and the oil with the sun, just fried me. We
all know now that this was a huge mistake.
I am lucky that
this is just one spot and the rest of me is good for now. Besides my modeling
career being over, and strapless dresses going to Goodwill (LOL!) I will become
more vigilant with my sunscreen and my hat. Fair is good…I plan to keep it that
way!
Stay safe and
be aware! Get checked annually! Now, time to take some pain medicine and head
to bed! Counting down until the stitches come out…13 more days!!
