OUCH!!! Today has been interesting! Hence, my delay in getting this out! As you all know, I love my high school! Today, I had the chance to do a quick visit, helping to give out Alumni t-shirts to the seniors who will be come alums on Friday. Lots of memories came flooding back. Waggener has changed a lot. It’s not the school I went to but they are doing good things there and I was happy for those smiling faces. Those young people have goals and dreams but they have not had the typical senior year experiences. I was happy to see food trucks, graduation tickets and a free yearbook for each of them. At least today, there was some semblance of the last day of school for the seniors. Friday, they will graduate on the football field, six feet apart from one another and they have been given permission to tell their families it is okay to cheer for them! The principal told them to let family and friends know. She also told them that they would have a large umbrella unde...

Another Big Thing… As I realize that I am approaching the one-year mark for returning to Louisville, my “comfort” with my things is becoming a little more questionable. What I mean by that is I’m not sure when I will be moving out. Currently, it is not on the horizon. That’s okay, as I believe I am where I need to be. What to do with all of my “stuff” has been nagging at me. I don’t necessarily want to sell it all because when I do move, I don’t want to replace everything…although it wouldn’t be that bad to do so. I was talking with a friend when I got a little weepy because most of what I have, I purposely chose. Many things were gifts based on my requests. Some things, just have sentiment. Bottom line, I’m sentimental about a lot of things. I've already had to give up a lot of things, I feel like these remaining items are just part of me. Having these things in a storage unit serves no purpose. As you know, I have been slowly getting rid of things. Today, someo...

Just Thinking… Yesterday, I found myself staring out the window at work. My office is located in an old school building with a couple of offices setup in classrooms, while there is a counseling office and a tutoring office in other classrooms. The lower level of the building is where the cafeteria was housed and the upper level is where the nuns used to live…small rooms that are now vacant, but you can imagine the teaching nuns living up there. Looking out of my large windows, there was so much color…a beautiful deep pink group of azalea bushes, freshly mowed green grass, tall yellow irises, and some pots hanging from the various porches nearby. So colorful and so spring-like. It was easy to get lost in the visuals. Then, a caravan of cars started to arrive and I was reminded that next door is the church that goes with this building and a fairly large group was gathering for a funeral. The deceased was 93 years old and she must have had a ton of kids, because there...

Hola! It’s Cinco de Mayo!! I’m an Italian that loves a good margarita…and a fajita or taco, all with salsa and sour cream! Yum! Tonight, we had our own little celebration! Although I don’t mind preparing fajitas since they are so tasty, I do miss eating out where I can share unlimited chips and salsa with a couple of margaritas, order my dinner that arrives on a sizzling skillet, and be totally full because of those darn chips! I look forward to taco Tuesdays and flavored margarita specials. I am so excited to start doing that more frequently…soon!! Today, we’re all Mexican! Tomorrow, I go back to being my Italian self! I have been adding things to my calendar for the first time in a year. Oh sure, there have been those few appointments for Mom or a haircut for me, but now, my calendar is starting to have dates that are things to look forward to, like a bridesmaid luncheon or a wedding, a babysitting trip to Pittsburgh and a long weekend to visit friends in Cincinnati. I ...
