I promised a special post and today is the day! Yesterday was my sweet Katie’s 32 nd birthday! Yep…I have a 32-year-old. Now I know some of you have kids older than that but gosh…having a daughter in her 30s is sometimes hard for me to believe…gray hair and all! I say it all the time, and even said it yesterday, but being Katie’s mom is my greatest accomplishment. From the minute I found out I was pregnant; I couldn’t wait to have a baby! Now, that wasn’t always the case, but once the decision was made, it was the best! Morning sickness and exhaustion were my badges of honor as I worked through my nine months.   There is no describing the love of a mother and a child. Birth Mom or Adopted Mom or Second Mom are all included in that statement!   I mean you are sure that you will love this baby/child, but it is a love like no other. People told me that, but I didn’t believe it until it happened to me. Katie was my greatest accomplishment…hands down! We had a grea...
Today, I’m tired!     Full Disclosure:   Today’s blog is a little raw, a little different from the other posts.   I also know that I may be opening myself up to some criticism, but I’m ready.   I’m trying to figure out where to go from here…so bear with me, if you will. When I started this blog, I did so because friends said, “you should write a blog.”   I honestly love to write but I really didn’t know what I could write about that would be of any interest to many people.   Then I got divorced and dabbled in “online” dating and had some stories.   I still have stories about online dating but since I have put that experience out to pasture, I’ve put those stories away.   I feel like I have lots to say about my divorce experience but no one really needs to hear that.   Some of you have experienced it first hand, and although we each think our stories are unique, re-living it isn’t always the way to go.   My move ha...

New Girl in Town!   Monday, I started my new job!   It’s only been 2 full days (I’m off on Wednesdays!) but already, I know this is the place for me.   There is lots to learn and I have people working hard to help me get there.   The Executive Director is new as well (less than 2 months in) and she and I have connected from our first meeting.   She is young, and energetic.   She is open to suggestions and we already have a mutual trust.   We have both assured one another that we aren’t shy about sharing ideas and will not be offended if an idea is rejected.   That being said, it’s just the first week!   I hope that I will be reporting like this in a few weeks and in a few months.   Remember when I said this was a “no frills” place?   Well, when I arrived on Monday, I found my phone…one of two office phones.   These phones are the first models of the “texting” phones from years ago...make that MANY years ago.  ...
I GOT A JOB…      during the Pandemic!! I moved home to Louisville on June 22, and last week, around July 26, I was offered a job! As I was making plans to come back to Louisville, I knew that I would need a job of some sort, but I didn’t really know what it would be…what I wanted and if the truth be told, I had other plans at this point in my life. Insert “dream mode!”   I pictured myself, leaving Mt. Notre Dame early…maybe officially “retiring early” at the end of this past school year.   Greg would be retiring shortly after that and we’d be able to start doing those things that we had planned.   We’d be hosting more bourbon trail trips, traveling to Pittsburgh for grandparent time, and doing some “just for fun” short trips, maybe even a long trip now and then.   We talked about moving to Louisville or Bardstown, where Greg would get a part-time job with one of the distilleries.   I figured I’d be around to help with my folks, bu...
