Happy Mother’s Day!!

First of all, thanks to all of you for your love, support and kind words after my “Debbie Downer” post on Wednesday…and just like that, I’m feeling so loved and have had a great weekend!

My daughter, Katie, came in for a couple of days.   We went for a quick bite with friends on Friday night and then went to Mt. Notre Dame to see the show…Little Shop of Horrors.   Katie had not been in the theater (her home theater) for awhile.   It was fun for both of us to see some of the friends she met while in high school and at the same time, to see the new talent.   We had a lot of fun…lots of laughs and a great night.

One of my favorite parts of her visits, when she travels to Cincy alone, is sleeping in the same bed, talking about everything, and falling asleep to old TV shows.  We had two special nights of this!!!

Saturday was my fashion show.   Katie planned her trip around the show.   She has always been my biggest fan and today was no exception.   You may remember that I model during this fashion show.   So, with a room filled with 250 women, I strutted my stuff to upbeat music (The Lady is a Tramp, This Love, and  Bad Mamma Jamma), and cheers from the crowd.   I've finally come out of my shell!!   LOL!!!   I felt awesome!   I needed that!

It was a great event with so many generous people and I am grateful to my friends who attended and supported me!   It’s times like this that I am reminded of my good fortune!

Upon our arrival home after the fashion show, we raced to the bedroom to put on our pajamas.   Yes, it was 3:00pm on a Saturday afternoon and we were comfortably in our lazy boy chairs, decked out in our pjs!   There may have been some cat-napping while we binge watched “Say Yes to the Dress” and sipped iced tea.    When we started to get hungry, we ordered pizza and continued catching up on “trash” TV.

Katie headed out early this morning so I will be alone for the day.   But my heart is full and I am grateful for a special Mother’s Day visit from Katie and “Baby T.”   It was the first time I had seen her since early March, so I got to touch her pregnant belly and say hi to my future grandchild, known as Baby T.   That is the best!!   Next year, she will be celebrating Mother’s Day as a MOM!!!   I cannot believe it!!

I remember becoming a Mom, some 30+ years ago and it was an experience like no other.  Knowing that I had a hand in developing a human is overwhelming.   The responsibility is immense and one that I took very seriously.   After talking to Katie this weekend, I don't know how I did it...She has so many resources available to her to keep her healthy during pregnancy and to make her the most educated and prepared for motherhood.  I'm not sure I could keep up!!   I love sharing this special time with her as her Mom and knowing that soon, I'll be holding the human that she had a hand in developing.

Today, I wish you all a Happy Mother’s Day!   I send good wishes and much love to my Mom who has been my example of someone who can express unconditional love to her children, and their very different personalities and lives.  I marvel at moms who have multiple children because I know how hard it is to be a Mom.   All of us can agree that it’s one of the hardest but most rewarding jobs/roles we will ever have.

I send much love to my friends who have lost children for I have seen your pain and know that this is a difficult day for you.  A special hug to those friends who have difficult relationships with their children...your heartache is real.

Enjoy a couple of pictures of the fashion show and I hope all of the mother’s out there are enjoying a day full of smiles, pampering and goodies!!
