So much to do…so little time!
Boy, am I grateful that I started my Christmas shopping
early. Yes, I probably spent a little more than I should/would/ have, but if I
had to add Christmas shopping to my “to do” list now, I’d be up the creek!
It’s already December 7, and although the family calendar
isn’t all fun and games, it’s packed…doctor appointments, haircuts, social
visits, birthday dinner, Christmas, yadda yadda yadda!
I know I’m preaching to the choir because we are all in the
same boat. I’m just trying to figure out how I got there. Any ideas?
With Mom and Dad, neither one of them can go shopping so my
brother and I have been shopping for them…I’ve shopped for Dad to give to Mom
and Joey has shopped for Mom to give to Dad. Fortunately, we had asked them to
cut back on kids years ago, so they don’t really have much shopping to do.
However, Mom always wants to have a few things in hand for those she has
forgotten or for someone who just “stops by” in the middle of the month. For some,
gifts can be shipped (thank you Harry & David, Wisconsin Cheeseman, Eastern
Standard Provisions, etc.…).
We had a celebration for the families we serve at my job.
Last night was chaotic but full of fun! I thought the cookie decorating would
be the most fun, but it seems the snowball toss won that award! With the
Trinity High School guys helping out, they created a great snow ball fight area
in the corner of the room. I’d say there were six K-4th graders and
two seniors in high school. They were not using the snowballs for the game but
rather let the kids toss them and soon, there was a full-on snowball fight! It
got a little crazy but the kids had a ball and the Trinity guys were loving it!
The cookie decorating was messy, tasty, and “germy” but it was a hit. When
families left, they picked up the gifts that were collected by the students at
Trinity. It’s always fun to see the pile of gifts and the smiling faces when
the kids peek into the bags.
The chaos was natural…hot chocolate bar, cookies, and more
cookies and kids were totally sugared up and contained in one room so parents
could just enjoy! It was wild and although I’m used to planning for a more
mature crowd, our team did a great job!
Up next, the Murray State Racers vs.
the Bellarmine Knights, at Freedom Hall, complete with a pre-party for alums. I’m
excited for these two teams to play in Louisville. Love Bellarmine, but when it
comes to the Racers, I am completely loyal. I’m hoping for a spirited game!
But wait…there’s more! Yep…immediately
following the game, we will proceed to the interactive White Christmas party in
the back yard of my dear friends. There will be singing, throwing snow (using
popcorn instead!), audience participation and lots of chili & soup! Did I
mention the hot chocolate bar? This is our second year and looks to be even
bigger than last year! Fingers crossed that the weather is dry and in the 40s
like it is supposed to be!
There is a sleepover involved on
Saturday night and I’m pretty sure Sunday would be a great pajama day, but I
have a feeling, with the two things scheduled that day, I’ll have to keep my
clothes on!!
Oh folks, I etc. think I just
realized how December got so crazy! I said YES to lots of fun things!
Thankfully, I am able to do these activities and I know as exhausted as I’ll be
on Monday morning…I’ll have lots of fun things to remember and talk about!!
I hope your schedule is full of
joy and hopefully, not overloaded! I’ll be back next week with some good
pictures and a full report!!! It is the most wonderful time of the year for
this girl!!!
Go Racers!!
Lisa, you certainly lead a full life. Have so much fun.
