  Baby It’s Hot Outside! Oh my…to say it is hot & steamy out there is an understatement. Whew! I’m not really complaining, because I am fortunate to have an air-conditioned home and an air-conditioned car. My livelihood does not revolve around the outdoors. I can’t stop thinking about those construction workers, road crews, landscaping/lawn care workers. It’s so hot…even Churchill Downs closed for today and tomorrow because of the excessive heat. This is just the second time in history, I think! That’s big! The weekend looks to be pleasant and 10-15 degrees cooler, then those unbelievable hot days will return. I know many of my Cincinnati friends have been without power and I’m sorry! Hopefully by the time this gets out, power has been restored. Thinking of all of you! A week from today, I’ll be starting a babysitting job with my two favorite little guys! I’ll be in Pittsburgh for just over a week as their parents travel for an early 10-year anniversary trip!   HAPPY ANNIVERSARY        YOU CRAZY KIDS!!   Today, June 8, 2022 is the 65 th wedding anniversary of our parents! 65 years being married to the same person! It’s an amazing accomplishment and I’m super proud to claim them as mine! A lifelong marriage like this one does not come easy! Dad was robbed, on a bus, as he was on leave from the Army, heading to get married. After he returned home, just days before the wedding, he had to borrow money from his future-father-in-law to get him through! Wow! They started married life in Tacoma, Washington, where just a year later, I was born. They developed friendships that have lasted all of this time from that short jaunt. Money was scarce with a military salary, but they didn’t care! They had everything they needed! Soon, the family grew, with my brother, Eddie, then Joey, and finally, Lori.   Happy June!!   It’s hard to believe that we are starting our first full month of summer! Honestly, I don’t know where the time goes. Seems like Derby (the first week of May), was just last week, Mother’s Day has come and gone, and the long Memorial Day weekend is now a memory! As a kid, time creeped by and as an adult, it seems to fly…even when nothing much is happening! Forgive me as many of you know this…but June went from being my favorite month to being a “trigger” month, reminding me of some unhappy times in my life. Now, I will say it gets better every day, but there are still those moments of heartbreak with various anniversaries or special occasions remembered. You don’t forget the good times, that’s for sure! So today, I’m vowing to treasure the good times I’m bound to have and put those “trigger” days on the back burner. I want to take back my birthday month!! There’s lots to be grateful for and that’s a reason to not let the bad days overwhelm me! Right?...
