Finished with my Christmas shopping! (or am I?)
It’s no secret that I love Christmas and it’s no secret
that I enjoy Christmas shopping, although it’s not as much fun when it’s online
all of the time. So, what’s the problem?
Well, for the past several weeks, I have been doing my
Christmas shopping, mostly online. Throughout the year, I have seen different
things, put into an email folder and review them when it’s time to purchase.
When Gabriel was born, we changed up my gifts to Katie’s family. After hearing
about this from a very smart friend, I decided it would be fun for my crew. So,
I planned out “Something you Want, Something you Need, Something to Wear and
Something to Read.” This seemed really wise, keeping the bountiful display of
gifts down to a stack of four for each of my “kids!” (Katie, Anthony &
Gabriel)
For the rest of the family, I just try to listen or think
of items that are not expected and hopefully will serve a purpose. I do try and
get things from smaller vendors too.
If I would use the spreadsheet that I made in October, I
would know that I have more than enough for everyone on my list, although I’m
still waiting on a couple of deliveries. However, why would I look at my
spreadsheet? It seemed so fun back then!
A couple of weeks ago, I felt soooooo great! I had my four
items for each of Katie’s family members and I had completed my list for family
and friends. Then, a couple of packages arrived and I had forgotten about them.
But I just wrapped them and decided to give them as “bonus” gifts.
Last week, I found a cool gadget that I thought I would
like for myself…and it came in a 3-pack, so I ordered it and decided it could
be a stocking stuffer. After that, an ad for one of my favorite places came out
and a couple of items just jumped off the page.
Oh, and how about the Bath & Body Works candle sale, I
mean how can you pass of $10 candles (normally $25).
I think you can guess where this is going. Yes, I ended up getting
more than I actually needed, and now, I should be well on my way to completing next
year’s shopping list!
It is clear that getting Christmas shopping done early is
more expensive if you are me because I am continuing to spend. I think that
might be a problem. Don’t worry because I have decided I am NOT buying
one more item, for Christmas! We’ll see how that goes…
Hope you are “wrapping it up” with your shopping complete!
I love it all and although traditions have changed, in many ways, I do love the
festive decorations and the boxes of fun that are unwrapped when we gather! I
have plenty to keep me busy so I’ll mark shopping off of my list!!
Gotta go...UPS just rang the bell!!
