My Greatest Accomplishment!   Today, August 25, is dedicated to my Katherine Elizabeth, (Katie!) as she celebrates her 33 rd birthday! I remember so well (as many of you do) the birth of my first, and what would be my only, child. The anticipation and excitement were overwhelming, but when I first looked into her eyes, something changed. I was no longer just a daughter, sister, wife and friend, I was a mother. Some of you may know, that I was a little late to the game (I was 30 when I had Katie) and to be honest, I wasn’t sure I was ready or if I could be devoted like I had seen so many of my friends do. At that moment, 8:06pm on August 25, 1988, I knew I could do it. At 6 lbs. 9 oz. she was mighty and she had our hearts. She was totally dependent on us and we could not let her down. As she took on her personality through her newborn to toddler days, I knew she was going to be an amazing person and I couldn’t wait to watch it all unfold. To be honest, I think I coul...

Long Term Care? WHAT-EV-ER!   Okay…time to rant! I’m not sure how many of you have long-term care insurance or have had parents with long-term insurance, or maybe you have sold long-term care insurance…so hopefully I won’t upset or disappoint any of you. This week, I have spent lots of time on the phone with the long-term care people for my parents. We would like to have wrought iron railings installed on the front porch and in their policy, this is indeed covered. We decided to do this as my Dad is having some issues with his hip and the steps require focus and a rail would be nice. My Mom already has us escorting her but Dad, just needs something to hold onto. That being said, because it was my Dad’s issues that prompted us, we decided to file a claim on his behalf. When I contacted the company, I was told that he would need an online evaluation to determine his “cognitive deficiency.” I questioned hat by saying, “he doesn’t really have any deficiency, unless bei...

Still Letting Go….   Welcoming myself home from our Mother/Daughter “spa” trip and I am so grateful for the chance to spend quality time with my sweet Katie! We had a great few days of bonding and laughing and solving big problems like, “which pajamas to wear” or “what to order from room service” or “are you ready for a nap?” and other big issues! It was so great to get away with no worries! Of course, she’s a mom, so she had to check in with Anthony and Gabriel each day but other than that, we were two free babes!! I appreciated every minute and I’m grateful for a safe trip! Next time I’ll see Katie and crew will be over Labor Day as we celebrate Gabriel’s 2 nd birthday!!! In other news…On Monday, I sold my bed! Remember, I’m trying to “let go” of things? Well, I have tried to sell my bed multiple times and the last time I tried, the young couple wanted the mattress and box springs, but not the beautiful (in my opinion!) king size sleigh bed. It was killing me to g...
