Stopping
to smell the roses!
Do you ever drive/ride in the car in silence? I hardly ever do! There's always a dancing song from my Pandora disco station or a crazy podcast I'm listening to. Today, for some reason, I was unplugged and it was awesome!
.
.
The air was brisk, the sky was blue and the trees are really
starting to show color. I noticed all
of these things because I wasn’t distracted with the music or a podcast. Gosh…that’s a switch!
Perhaps I was feeling relaxed a bit. Afterall, I HAVE A SPOTLESS APARTMENT!!!
In fact, it’s so clean, I just want to walk around and look at it! I don’t want to get anything dirty!! *I may have cried a little when I first arrived home...I felt like a Queen!!
Now, I cannot lie.
Monday night, I tidied up a bit, or a lot…hiding things in my closet, washing bathroom
towels and the floor rugs so they would be clean and ready for the girls when
they arrived, pushed things under my bathroom sink or into my dresser drawers to
get it out of the way. It looked presentable…just
dusty and ready for a good cleaning!
But I know what is lurking behind every cabinet door and in those
dresser drawers!! I have a bag of donation
stuff and I know I will have more than one bag by the end of the weekend.
This “cleaning” was just the beginning of my excitement! I am so motivated to de-clutter now! I cannot wait to dig in! My bedroom is my first project…finish the
closet and clean out the dresser drawers! TWO drawers were done last night! Just four more to go and my dresser will be done!! You can’t begin to imagine the size of these projects…but it doesn’t
seem as overwhelming, just knowing that the cleaning is done (for now!) and I
won’t feel guilty about starting a new project because something else needs to be done!
With the holidays just around the corner, I envision a guest
room that will be much more welcoming…those lovely Rubbermaid bins contained to
one area…rather than all around the room!
Call this a new beginning or call it crazy, but I feel like
this is another one of those moments…as I move forward in this chapter! Hey…I even charged my Fitbit this morning...hoping to wear it again! WAIT…WHAT???? Am I re-energized, maybe. Any promises for the future? No, but there is hope!!
There is something to be said about a re-boot or a re-fresh
or a NEW BEGINNING!! It may not always be as drastic as this one
feels to me, but I’m going to make myself more aware of those times. I’m definitely going to drive without
radio/podcast/noise at least once a week…letting my eyes invite me to enjoy
the view!!
I encourage you to do something to help you enjoy the view!!
