A CONFESSION!!!

Today, I have a confession!   As you know, I’ve been fussing about trying to keep up!   I feel like I am always running…like on a treadmill!   I’m super busy but don’t always feel like I’ve accomplished what I wanted, or things on my “to do” list!

In counseling this past week, it’s what seemed to weigh me down.   Well, I am here to say, I’m going to do something drastic about this!!

On Tuesday, I have a pair of housecleaners coming to do a deep clean to my apartment!   Yes, I have an apartment and I need help getting it cleaned up.   I want to do de-cluttering, but I can’t do it because I always feel like I should be cleaning my bathrooms or mopping the floor.

Now I know, many of you reading this will be rolling your eyes…I get it!   Who can’t keep an apartment neat and tidy?   Well, now you know someone!  Actually, my apartment is tidy, but my blinds need to be cleaned, my baseboards need a good cleaning and the spider webs hanging from my kitchen light fixture to my living room lamp need to go!

With my work schedule, and my “fun schedule,” a lot of nights when I get home, my routine consists of getting my pjs on and getting caught up on computer work.   When I have a free afternoon or weekend, I clean and always feel so good but it always seems like I can’t get it all done and once I stop…I stop!

I feel like all of the stars were aligned when this decision came to be.   My nail girl told me one of her clients was starting a business with her sister.   She had been a client for over 20 years and I asked if she thought she’d be up for cleaning an apartment.   Then, I found out that this client had a freshman daughter starting at Mt. Notre Dame.   We ran into each other at a meeting earlier and the rest is history.

She came by last weekend to take a look and she happily told me that my plan would be no problem!!  Then she said the magic words, “We also do de-cluttering!!”   Surely, as she looked around and saw my bins, she was chomping at the bit!!   I told her we would start with the cleaning and see how much de-cluttering I could do myself (and with the help of my sister Lori!).   It’s nice to know that there is help out there!

At the last minute, I had to make a trip to Louisville to check in on family this weekend!   Grateful for the chance to do that and everything is good, but it took time away from my “clean-up” planned for this weekend before the housecleaners arrive on Tuesday!   How many of you “pre-clean” before your housecleaners come???

Well, due to time limitations, I am doing the basics…clearing a path!!   I have piles setup for the vendor show on Saturday, I have a small pile of “stuff” from my trip to Louisville, need to do laundry and need to straighten my piles on the dining room table!  I will not be cleaning the bathrooms or vacuuming the floor.   I’ll leave that to them!

Now, I hope there will be no judging, but even if there is, I won’t mind.   This service, although it will take a bite out of my monthly budget, will be so great for my mental health, I won’t mind eating PB & J for dinner now and then!   I may have some pictures along the way…stay tuned!!

For now, I’m looking at this as an opportunity to re-boot!   Let the games begin!!!
