I’m Ready!!!

Today, we celebrated Katie and Baby T with friends in Pittsburgh!    One of Katie’s friends, Emily, hosted a lovely luncheon at one of our favorite places.   Surrounded by girlfriends, we enjoyed the last “official” party in honor of Katie and Baby T.

We are just about five weeks away from the due date and I CAN’T WAIT!   The celebrations have been fun and each had their own personality.   Our luncheon today was special and unique.

We had received an invitation that had lemons on it…I think it stemmed from Katie’s love of all things lemon (like her momma!).   But I like to think that it came from the announcement on the maternity app that said the baby was the size of a lemon at the time.   At any rate, the theme was carried out from start to finish!  

We arrived at the restaurant and knew which table was ours based on the adorable table runner and floral arrangements on the table.  Besides a delicious lunch and tasty crafted cocktails, we were treated to lemon scented lotions and  soaps as favors.    Katie’s friend, Aubrey, provided the delectable desserts…cookies, lemon macarons AND a lemon blueberry cake!!   I provided the “to go” boxes with lemon stickers!!  

It was a delightful day and it was a great way to conclude the celebrations in anticipation of Baby T.   August will be the final month before our family grows!   In just a few short weeks, we will have our newest family member…a tiny human being, surrounded by love and unaware of what lies ahead for him/her.  Cue the tears!!!

 My counselor told me that becoming a grandparent is a very emotional time.  (she knows me well!!)   It is a time of reflection...the joy and love will consume me but it is a time of thinking about my past...my relationship with my grandparents and my parents.   It is a time to think about those special times between these people and me.   I will want to share my good memories with my daughter and my grandchild.   So much reflecting...

 I am ready!   Katie is nearly ready (I think!!) and all of our family and friends are ready to hug on Baby T!   

 Today, as I write this note...my heart is full, my tears are present, although few at the moment and I am grateful for a daughter who has a great group of friends all over the place!  This CeCe will go to bed with a smile on her face!!

  I’M BACK…AGAIN! I had this ready to go a couple of weeks ago, trying to get back into my normal Wednesday blogpost, but for some reason, the evening got away from me and my good intentions to get back to “work” on my blog, just went out the window.   Go Baby Go!!! Yep…Derby week is in full swing and tomorrow, Louisville will become THE place to be for three days! If any of you are reading this and will be in the area…Welcome and have a great time!! If you want to have a mint julep, feel free to stop by! My week has been so fun and the events did not disappoint. It all started with Opening Night in the Turf Club at Churchill Downs. It was a beautiful evening with a light breeze. Our driver was very kind, but sadly, her car did not have air conditioning, so we were a little warm heading out to the track. Note to self…be sure to ask that question when scheduling!! After arriving near the gate, we enjoyed the easy ride on the escalator and elevator to the Turf Club where we were seated and greeted and ordered our first cocktails…a mint julep for me!!
