Happy Easter!
Today, I’ll be brief because we should all be enjoying our Easter
or Passover celebrations with family and friends! I’m with my family, in Louisville,
celebrating with tasty foods and cheerful cocktails!
As an adult, I’ve never really had an Easter tradition…we did
something different every year…sometimes in Louisville, sometimes in
Cincinnati, sometimes in Pittsburgh. Sometimes
I was with family, and sometimes I was with friends. Easter Mass was always a part of the day, but there were often home cooked meals and just as often, there were restaurant buffets or special menus. I’m
not sure why there wasn’t any big tradition, but I have actually enjoyed
changing it up.
Last year was my first
Easter as a “soon to be divorced” person.
I was in Louisville which was where I needed to be, playing a silly game
with a mouthful of marshmallows. It was
fun, it was good, and it was part of my new beginnings. My life now is truly about celebrating in a
variety of ways. Someday, there may be
a new tradition, but for now, Easter will continue to be a little different
every year.
Greg stopped by on Friday to bring some furniture to me, chairs
that I wanted to put around the dining room table. (he has room to store a few things for me) I admit, it had been awhile since we had been
in touch and I was a little nervous, but it was actually pleasant. We had a cordial visit and thankfully, it is
getting less awkward to be around one another.
It’s still hard for me…I have the instinct to hug him, but I don’t feel
like we aren’t there yet. Looking
forward to a new grandchild is surely going to be a bond that we will be
embracing as part of this process…my new life, my new chapter.
I’m a work in progress and overall, I am happy and proud of where
I am today. There’s still a lot to do
but again, I’m not alone and for that, I am grateful!
Happy Easter and Happy Passover! Love to all of you!
